A Step (or Two!) Back in Time at Arnhem
The next day we boarded our first class coach complete with
our first class good looking bus driver Richard (whom all the young single
girls on our tour swooned over….just sayin’) and we headed off to Arnhem for a mid-day break en route to Germany. Arnhem is a large historic outdoor museum
depicting Dutch life from the 1600’s – 1800’s where we explored on our own or
in small groups at our leisure. A
photographer’s paradise with an incredible Kodak moment with every turn
complete with windmills, thatched houses, delicate flower gardens and cobble
stone walkways not to mention the
extensive history of the museum itself. With
a delicious Dutch pancake lunch under our belts we continued on our journey to
Bacharach in Germany’s Rhineland.
Old World Charm of Arnhem
Arnhem was simple, peaceful, and reflective of an old world now largely gone from our western culture. Our highlights for Arnhem are a farmhouse next to a quiet waterway, working windmills on farms with thatched roof buildings, and artisan bread on display ready to be enjoyed.
